HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROYAL!

So...one year old and the apple of his mother's eye, the whip cream on her coffee, the beans in her burrito...

So...one year old and the last hope of his father...god knows those other 3 are already a lost cause...:-)

So...one year old and he's stuck in the house all day, despite the unseasonably gorgeous weather, because all the rest of the family have horrible head colds, chest congestion and pukey stomachs...

Welcome to the real world, kid...

Here's why...

Lights in the Heights

So, last night was the annual Lights in the Heights extravaganza!
Bev, David and Willow, and Davids parents came along with our brood to check it out!

Santa was there...

And so was the heat...
notice the tank tops, right?

Look at the excitement on their sweet little faces! (giggle)

I think Royal might be waiting for Spike to drop that lollipop so he can have a go at it!

Here's a family photo op gone bad.
But, the house was awesome and the lights were pretty...

Time to go home...

This was Hella's first ever time seeing Santa, and you could tell she didn't know what to think.
We tried explaining it to her, and she got the whole "He brings you presents" part, but I think the mere sight of the man freaked her out!
I told her we're going to see him again next weekend at the mall and she can sit on his lap and tell him what she wants.
That
, she was into, I just think this wasn't the right time??
Or, perhaps the thought of a present did the trick!

TASTES LIKE CHICKEN

Remember a long time ago we had a post about Boris telling us he could hear the sky singing..?

And then there was one relating Spike's take on 'Old MacDonald's Farm', where the farm in the famous song was populated by The Hulk, King Kong and The Thing..?

Well, Hella has reached her version of this super-creative stage...

We were bathing her the other night and she just HAD to tell us all about the three roosters that lived in her mouth...a green one, a yellow one and a pink one.

It seems they all live together in her mouth, each one coming out at different times of the day to..."say cocka-cocka-doo".

We asked her if she ever accidentally swallowed them, and she said, "no, they are very fast."

:-)

Thanksgiving

Well, it was both Royal and Willow's first Thanksgiving!
Everyone seemed to have a good time!
So good in fact, that the taking of pictures, sort of got forgotten...again! (sorry)

There was tons of great food! My 'famous' apple pie! and Sarah's pecan pie, made by Hella and Robyne! A Tofurkey, a Quorn roast, real turkey for the meat-eaters, veggie stuffing made from this yummy recipe I found on-line, fruit salad, green bean casserole, over night butter rolls, and more!

The kids had fun enjoying the colder weather! We put up the playpen outside to keep Royal from eating all the leaves. Who knew the other kids would like it too?!

Unfortunately all the good family shots of the dinner and the 'kids' table cannot be seen here, but, if you don't mind clicking on the link to the side, you can find them at The Book of Walls blog! Thanks Bev and David for coming over and taking some great pictures!

Field Day!

Today was Boris' 1st grade Field Day!
His class wore the color red, and was named "Morton's Monsters!"
In the support of the event, we all wore something red. Hella didn't have anything, so I put this stylish bandanna Hillary got me for my birthday on her! And honestly, this might just be my favorite picture of her!

All the kids in the class drew posters to hang on the fence during the competitions.

Hangin' out in between events.

Boris gearing up to "open a can...!"

Winning rules!

Yeah... he's that big!

This is the 'over/under' event, and that is his 'friend' Christiana behind him! (hee hee)

Overall we had a blast! The weather was cool, and the kids seemed to really get into the whole competition of it, without losing sight of the fun!
Not to mention that Morton's Monsters came in second place!

Hopefully there will be a video to follow, very soon...
*ahem* Rik...
