THE MORNING AFTER

So, on Friday 09/28/07 Rik's longtime employment at Bedrock City Comics ended.

This threw us all for a loop.

-----------

If nothing else, at least there will be more family time over the next week or so. This is how we spent the following morning...

The Museum of Fine Arts-Houston has the piece Spirit Way by Chinese artist Yue Minjun outside its doors.

After the statues, we got some coffee & bagels and hit the playground...

HELLA'S NEW HAIRCUT

Spike is 4 Now!!

I know you have all been waiting a while for pictures from Spike's birthday, and I just wanted to say I'm sorry for taking so long, and thank you for being patient!

Unfortunately we didn't get very many "good" shots, but here's some of what we did get, enjoy!

While we were out with Spike and his best friend Robert. Robyne was home decorating! Spike was thrilled!

I made the cake, and Rik decorated! Yummy!

(and for the record, he specifically asked for a
green Spider-Man...)

Overall I think he had a really great day!

Thank you to everyone who called to wish him a happy birthday! He loved it!

A video will be coming soon...

BEACH PARTY-A-GO-GO

So, Galveston Island is a pretty sick beach, especially when you grew up in South Florida and have also spent time on the beaches of Panama City and San Diego...

But still, it's all we've got right now...

(And it was Royal's first time!)

BORIS = 6

So...

Yeah...so...

He's six.

Freakin' six.

-shaking my head-

Six.

So...

We had a crazy party. 13 kids, several adults. Pirate-theme, so there were eyepatches, and skulls, and hats and swords and guns...

We used water guns, which gave us the idea of black water balloons as cannonballs which gave us the idea of making a big cardboard pirate ship...

Unfortunately, it didn't give us the idea of taking any pictures...

Sorry.

Everyone had a great time, were soaked to the bone, got 'tattooed', ate cake (two of Mommy's famous ones, decorated to look like a dead mermaid...that's what pirates eat, right?), had water gun and foam sword and balloon cannonball fights...

Daddy got tackled into the mud.

Mommy got pelted in the head by water balloons (and then took her revenge by turning the hose itself directly on Boris)...

We think he had a good time...

Here's the one, lone picture...after all the kids were dry and playing in the boys' room...

THE INIMITABLE MS. KATCHOO

Being the only girl, and not a bit camera-shy, more pics get taken of Hella than pretty much any other subject around here...

Here's some...

SHE FOUND A 'FLOWER' FOR MOMMY...
SHE LOVES TO HELP COOK...OR, AT LEAST, SIT AND WATCH SOMEONE ELSE COOK...
ROYAL WATCHES FROM AFAR...
WHAT'S A GIRL GOTTA DO TO GET SOME SERVICE AROUND HERE..?!?

VANILLA PUDDING ROCKS...
YEAH, PEANUT BUTTER & JELLY IS GOOD, BUT I'D MUCH RATHER PONDER ROETHKE..."I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I feel my fate in what I cannot fear.
I learn by going where I have to go
."

FOR THE LADIES...

This is like cat-blogging, only it's kid-blogging...

1. Goofy, gorgeous and great. (I really like how the light is accentuating the mole on the end of my nose...yeah, that's great...)

2. What were they looking at..?

3. Best friends.

4. Can you have more than one best friend?

5. Natural Born Model.

6. Diaper Fight! (What does that even mean?)
